  • Less clutter in your kitchen means less stress. Minimalism can be powerful!
  • Know where your back up plastic water bottles are stored in case of emergency

  • Only buy what you need. That goes for extra water bottles and water bottle organizers!
  • Prioritize durable materials for water bottle organizers like bamboo or stainless steel since they will last longer than plastic. It snaps so easily.
  • Repurpose organizers you already own. For example, a shoe organizer can be reused as a water bottle organizer.
  • Shop secondhand! If you want to save money, start with thrift stores before buying new! I will have some organizer recommendations throughout this post if you can’t find items second hand.

How to Store Water Bottles In Your Kitchen

1. Use a water bottle drying rack in your kitchen cabinets

I love these because they ensure your bottles are perfectly dry and compact in your kitchen cabinets.

You can stack your lids next to it or put them in a small bin. This storage solution is perfect if you live by yourself in a small apartment! You will always know where your favorite bottles are.

2. Use a shoe box in your kitchen cabinets or pantry shelves to keep drink bottles organized

A budget-friendly and eco-conscious version of the previous tip is to clean out a shoe box and use that!

It will keep your bottles organized and all in one place. Decorate it with some peel and stick wallpaper and no one will know the difference (;

*magazine holders work for this as well!

3. Use an over-the-door organizer to store water bottles in your pantry

If you have a pantry, a back of the door organizer is a must for your kitchen!

Simply slide your bottles in the pockets. All of your water bottle accessories will have a pocket to be store in as well.

4. Store your water bottles in clear plastic bins on pantry shelves

If you have a large family then having large clear containers to store your back up water bottles is a must. These clear bins are the perfect size to fit water bottles neatly.

Since they are clear you can see exactly what you are looking for. Then they can easily slide onto your pantry shelves for the next camping trip or soccer game.

These bins are also helpful for taller bottles that may not fit in kitchen drawers or cabinets.

5. Use tiered organizers in your kitchen cabinets for a medium-sized water bottle collection

In order to be able to see all of your water bottles, use a tiered organizer. It will ensure that minimal space is used and you can easily grab and go.

This is perfect if you have 6 or so reusable drink bottles. That way you can still see and easily access the ones in the back.

6. Horizontal water bottle organizers for a large water bottle collection

These can seriously store so many water bottles! Since they are horizontal you will see the top of the bottle and can simply slide it out.

These are great because your bottles won’t be hidden behind others. Regardless of the type of bottle they should easily fit in this organizer.

7. Peg boards in your pantry to store water bottles for easy access

This organizer may take a bit of creativity but if you have the space, it’s genius. Use a peg board with slanted pegs to hold your water bottles.

Since they are facing down, any excess water will slide right out. These are perfect to install in a mudroom, kitchen pantry or even garage. Utilizing vertical space is always a good idea when it comes to kitchen organization. It saves so much space

8. Pull-out drawers for a lower cabinet shelf or pantry shelf

Add in these convenient pull out drawers to your lower kitchen cabinets. I love that these keep your water bottles vertical so you can easily see each individual one just from the top!

This is one of the easiest ways to keep your kitchen counters clear of rolling water bottles.

9. Organize kid water bottles with a simple easily accessible storage bin

Ok so what about your little ones? Personally, I think it is best to keep drink cups and water bottles in an easily accessible place for them to get their own water!

A simple storage bin in a low cabinet should suffice. Be sure to not tighten the lid too much so they can untwist it by themselves. Most importantly use the minimalist principles above to access how many water bottles your kid really needs!

How to organize water bottle lids and tops?

There are plenty of cute plastic bins that you can slap a label on to organize your water bottle tops.

But honestly, this system just leads to overwhelm.

You have to shuffle through a pile of water bottle lids and water bottle straws to find the one you’re looking for only to realize you chose the wrong size. It’s just not efficient for most homes.

Instead, ensure that when you are done cleaning your water bottles they are completely dry. Then simply screw the top back on and call it a day. You will always know where the lids are and your bottle will be ready to get filled up.

How to declutter your water bottle collection in your kitchen

Before even worrying about how to organize your water bottle collection, start with assessing your current collection. It seems like as fashion quickly changes so do water bottle trends.

But let’s be honest, do you really need 5 of the SAME water bottles? Of course, there are nuances like the size of your family and if you like to wash your water bottle every day. But for the most part, there has been a trend in overconsumption and it just creates clutter in your kitchen.

Here are a few things to consider when you are decluttering your water bottle collection:

  • Check to see if your water bottles are broken (cracks in the lid, mold in the mouthpiece, missing straws etc.)
  • How many similar water bottles do you have and do you truly need them?
  • Can you donate a few water bottles that don’t get much use?
  • Are some of your water bottles gifts from events? Are they high quality and do they get much use or are you holding onto them for nostalgic reasons?
  • Try to only use water bottles for water rather than juice or coffee which can stain your bottle. This will help them to last longer and might reduce your need to buy so many!

The less you own, the less you have to organize. You may realize that after you declutter the water bottles in your kitchen you don’t even need to buy a new fancy water bottle organizer.

Where do you put water bottles in your house?

Try to store you water bottles in easily accessible places like your kitchen cabinets, kitchen pantry, kitchen countertop, fridge or kitchen drawers.

It is important to remember when storing your water bottles that they are completely dry! If your water bottles are being stored in warm dark places with a moisture from the dishwasher you may see some mold growth.

Plastic water bottle storage ideas

You may be confused to see this section on a blog about sustainable living but there are times that plastic, such as plastic water bottles, are a necessity.

It is very important to have extra water in your home in case of emergencies.

It can be annoying to have to store it so what are some of the best ways to store plastic water bottles? Our top recommendation is yes buying more plastic. Ha!

Purchase a large plastic tub (like this one made partially from recycled plastic) that seals tightly. Then you can simply make rows of your plastic water bottles. This will block out light and ensure you have safe drinking water when needed. These containers make sure your bottles don’t roll around in your basement or pantry, get crushed or spill.

How to organize water bottles in your fridge

A great way to stay hydrated is to always have nice cold water bottles in your fridge. Although we already discussed the issue of overconsumption with water bottle collections this is the one area where there is some wiggle room.

Use a lazy susan organizer (like this one made from recycled plastic) to stick a few cold water bottles in the fridge. That way you have no excuse to not hydrate! This organizer will ensure they stay grouped together, don’t spill over and keeps your water separate from other food.
