Creating a camping menu can be tricky, especially when you need camping food that’s filling, easy to prepare, and can potentially feed a large crowd (potentially with different dietary needs too!)
That’s where make ahead camping breakfast can be incredibly helpful to start your day of camping adventures off right!
By planning out and preparing your meals before you even get to the camp site you can spend less time cooking and more time enjoying the great outdoors!
This list is packed with filling breakfast ideas that can work for a solo camping trip or you can multiply the portions to feed a crowd! I tried to include a good mix of sweet and savory options as well.
Lastly, the camping food on this list is vegan that way you can add whatever your campers prefer or need for their preferences. I find that plant-based options are a great starting off point!
Here are some of my absolute favorite breakfasts to make before I get to the campsite!

Best Make Ahead Camping Breakfast Ideas

Make ahead camping breakfast for a crowd
French Toast Casserole
Let’s start things off sweet with a yummy camping casserole that almost everyone will enjoy!
All you need to do is tear up slices of bread and soak them overnight in a mixture of almond milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and maple syrup. Then you can easily heat it up on a large pan over your campfire!
You can easily prep a few pans of this dish to feed a large group of campers. If you want it to be extra filling, bring a few jars of peanut butter or sun butter to use as a topping.

Breakfast hash
For a breakfast that will keep everyone full for all of the morning activities, you will love a traditional breakfast hash.
To make this, dice some potatoes, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and seasonings of your choosing. Place it all in a container that you can later saute when you get to your campsite.
I love adding vegan sausage or vegan cheese as well. For something easier to transport you can use nutritional yeast which will give your dish a bit of a cheesy flavor!
*You can also use sweet potatoes rather than regular potatoes if you want to mix things up!

Camping breakfast tacos
Since camping and all of the activities that come with camping require so much more energy, sometimes it’s better to have a more traditional lunch or dinner for breakfast instead.
Create some filling breakfast tacos by combining tofu, black beans (or pinto beans), onions, and bell peppers. I like to use a packet of taco seasoning like this one which is easy to transport while camping.
Saute all of your ingredients together and mix in your seasoning packet. Don’t forget to pack toppings like tortillas, avocado and salsa.

Make-ahead breakfast burritos
There’s always something to do while camping so having a little handheld breakfast can be helpful!
You can wrap up the breakfast hash I mentioned before or even the taco mixture above in tortillas rather than hard shells. Or you can create a new breakfast mixture using Vegan Just Egg, sauteed vegetables, and your favorite beans.
Wrap your breakfast burritos in a tortilla and then pack them in a Stasher bag or beeswax wrap.

Tofu scramble
This is a recipe I make on repeat and is perfect for making a large batch and feeding a crowd of campers!
Grab some tofu, nutritional yeast, turmeric, mushrooms, onions, and spinach. Dice up your veggies and saute them. Break up the tofu until it turns into crumbles, similar to scrambled eggs. Add a touch of turmeric, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper.
This is a great breakfast you can batch cook and eat by itself or put it on toast!
Don’t forget a bit of hot sauce!
*If you want to go the extra mile you can add this scramble inside of a hollowed out bell pepper.
Pancakes

Pancakes make the perfect camping breakfast because you can cook them at home to warm up at your campsite. You can also eat them cold.
If you would rather have them freshly made you can easily store the batter in a bottle and simply add water.
Pancakes are perfect for feeding a crowd while camping because they are easy to make.
Level up this breakfast option by including a mini pancake bar with topping slike nut butter, fruit, nuts, pumpkin seeds, maple syrup, chocolate chips, jam, honey, coconut flakes, sliced banana, etc.
Campfire cinnamon apple oatmeal

Oatmeal is super easy to prep ahead and whip up for a quick breakfast at your campsite.
You can create a large batch or pre-portion jars that everyone can add hot water to.
Don’t just add oatmeal, make sure to add items like dried fruit and nuts, seeds (chia seeds, flax seeds etc.), and some spices like cinnamon or brown sugar. There are so many flavor combinations you can choose from!
Baked oatmeal squares are a great option if you don’t want to deal with dishes and the oatmeal sticking to your camping cookware. Once you bake your oatmeal square you can eat them cold or warm them up for a cozy and nourishing breakfast option.
If you want a more savory option you could swap out the oatmeal for quinoa, polenta, or grits. It’s nice to have a filling base to start with and then add whatever toppings you prefer.
Vegan camping breakfast sandwiches

Use some reusable sandwich bags or compostable parchment paper to wrap up some delicious breakfast sandwiches. Then when you get to your campsite you can easily heat them up over your campfire.
I like to add tofu “egg” (or just egg) and then vegan cheese, avocado, and hot sauce on an English muffin. Add whatever filling you and your family prefer!
I love this option because it is easily customizable to each person if you need to make keto, gluten-free, vegetarian etc.!
Quick Grab-and-Go Camping Breakfast Options
Overnight oats
I know I already mentioned oats but I had to include a reminder about overnight oats because they are a great option if you don’t want to create a campfire for every meal. Overnight oats still ensure you get a filling breakfast though!
You can even premix your oats into portioned bags or jars so that at night you can simply add your favorite plant milk.
Don’t forget to add toppings like chia seeds, maple syrup, and nuts.

Chia pudding
If you aren’t a fan of oatmeal, try out some chia pudding. The preparation is very similar to overnight oats but sometimes I like to use a can of coconut milk for a more filling option.
For extra crunch and flavor add a scoop of granola and fresh fruit to the top of your pudding!
Muffins, vegan pop tarts, banana bread, and breakfast cookies
Baked goods are always a great breakfast option! They pair perfectly with more filling options for a bit of a sweet treat. Whether you choose banana, blueberry, or pumpkin you really can’t go wrong.
Aside from traditional breakfast pastries like muffins or scones, you could whip up some filling breakfast cookies. These are basically like the oatmeal squares mentioned above but these are in a circle shape (;
Homemade vegan pop tarts are still on my to-do list of recipes I want to try. I think these would be the perfect easy breakfast treat for camping though! Fill them with your favorite jam and you have something sweet to munch on with your morning camp coffee.

Homemade granola to use as cereal, trail mix, granola bars, or as a topping.

I think it’s an unofficial rule that you can’t go camping without making (or buying!) granola.
Kidding, but also, it’s a convenient and filling option that you should probably pack along. It is a great breakfast option because it doesn’t need refrigeration.
Pour your favorite plant-based milk on top of your granola or sprinkle it on top of coconut yogurt.
If you are starting one of your camping days with a morning hike, granola is the perfect snack to grab and go!
*With a bit of peanut butter and baking you can create granola bars for even easier snacking!
