This post is all about the best eco-friendly Easter egg fillers your family and friends will be excited to get!

Who doesn’t love an Easter egg hunt?! They’re truly fun for all ages (yes, even adults).

Aside from the thrill of the scavenger hunt and maybe a bit of competition, the mini egg filler gifts make it even better.

Easter eggs and candy go hand in hand but if you want to switch things up a bit you will love this list. Unfortunately, holidays can create a ton of unnecessary waste. This list is full of fun, creative, practical, and yummy items you can fill your Easter eggs with.

Best of all, these gifts have a low impact on the plant. The Easter Bunny will thank you for that!

*At the end of the post I’ll share some ways to have a more sustainable Easter egg hunt outside of just eco-friendly Easter egg fillers!

There will be plenty of non-candy Easter egg fillers on this list but I still wanted to include some yummy treats!

Candy wrappers can add up to a lot of waste (and money!) so instead use beeswax to wrap Easter gifts or just clean out your refillable eggs really well when stuffing your Easter eggs!

    12. Fairtrade chocolate: Rather than normal chocolate, opt for fair trade chocolate. These chocolates come in Easter colors!

    13. Dried fruit: Raisins, cranberries, or mango/pineapple pieces are still sweet but also nutritious.

    14. Homemade cookies: Whip up some tiny cookies from scratch to throw in some of your eggs.

    15. Fairtrade candies: Pick up some organic sour and sweet candies in Easter colors.

    16. Trail mix: Fill some of the eggs up with good ol trail mix. They will need the energy boost as they’re running around! You can include nuts, seeds, and dried fruit.

The most sustainable Easter eggs are the ones you already have. Yes, even those bright neon plastic ones! It’s better to use what you have rather than trash those and pick up sustainably made Easter eggs.

You can also get Easter eggs from the thrift store or yard sales! They will most likely be pretty cheap.

How to have an eco-friendly Easter egg hunt? (and Easter celebration)

              • Reusable plastic eggs (you can find these at the thrift store!)
              • Paper eggs rather than plastic eggs
              • Wooden eggs to decorate
              • Try fabric eggs or paper mache eggs.
              • Try felt eggs! These are Easter-themed felt eggs and these are plain colored felt eggs.
              • Eco-friendly egg fillers of course!
              • Thrift Easter baskets and decorate them at home
              • Compost your egg shells if you’re painting real eggs
              • Buy egg fillers from local shops, artists, and bakeries to support your community.
              • Use leftover wrapping paper as filling in Easter baskets. You can use a paper shredder to get that grass look.
              • Use real grass rather than plastic grass as filling for Easter baskets.
              • Use natural dyes for Easter egg decorating.
              • Check out your local thrift store for Easter home decor.
              • Try to use a reusable Easter basket rather than plastic bags
