Simple Tofu Scramble Seasoning Recipe
This post is all about how to make an easy tofu scramble and tofu scramble seasoning recipe for a filling breakfast.
Sometimes it seems like the only plant-based breakfast options that exist are sweet ones! But no fear, there are savory options too.
This easy tofu scramble recipe has been a quick and filling breakfast that has been on repeat in my home and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Learn the simple tofu scramble seasoning recipe that you can make in a big batch and leave in an air-tight container to have on hand. Or you can whip up this seasoning mix each time you make your scramble-it’s that simple!

Tofu scramble seasoning ingredients
Tumeric: Turmeric is what gives this dish that bright yellow egg-like look. Be careful while using it though because it can and will stain everything! I love turmeric but I have a love/hate relationship with it because it can be so messy.
Nutritional yeast: I love using nutritional yeast to give my food a more cheesy flavor. It is also yellow so it will bring extra color to your scramble.
If you have never tried this before, you’re in luck because nutritional yeast can be sprinkled on so many yummy dishes! It’s a great spice to have on hand in a plant-based kitchen.

Salt and pepper: These may be classic seasonings but they really pack their own punch. Salt just makes everything taste better and draws out the flavors so well. Pepper can also give your scramble a bit of an egg-like taste.
Onion powder: Normally I like to cook with a real onion but onion powder is super convenient. This spice is kind of a base that the more prominent spices can balance on.
Paprika: Give your tofu scramble a bit of a smoky flavor. You don’t technically need this spice to make a tofu scramble seasoning recipe but I love adding it to make the seasoning mix feel more complete.
Garlic powder: Similar to onion powder, you may barely even notice that the garlic powder is there. But if you forget this seasoning, your mix may feel a bit boring!

Tofu scramble ingredients
So now that we have the seasoning mix, what else do you need to make your tofu scramble?
Firm tofu: Pay close attention to which tofu packet you pick up! Make sure you get the one labeled as firm. This is just a texture thing and it’s totally fine if you don’t get firm but personally, I think the recipe turns out better when you use firm tofu.
*Make sure to press the excess water out of your tofu. Sometimes I forget to do this and it doesn’t turn out that great! This will help the seasoning mixture to really absorb into the tofu and if there is too much water, your tofu scramble will taste watered down.

Olive oil: Make sure you have a bottle of olive oil on hand to scoot your tofu scramble around your pan. I have noticed that tofu can stick to pans easily.
Optional toppings: Spinach, tomatoes, vegan cheese, mushrooms, kale, potatoes etc. Have fun adding whatever vegetables you prefer to your scramble! This is a great way to get some extra veggies in during the morning without eating a salad. Because who wants a salad for breakfast?!
Serving suggestions for tofu scramble

I love how versatile this recipe is! You can eat your tofu scramble as is or add it to a wrap for a breakfast burrito, use it as a toast topping, or squish it between bagel slices.
You can easily store your tofu scramble in an air-tight container in the fridge. I have never freezed it before but I assume it may make the texture kind of odd when you dethaw it and reheat it. Let me know how this goes if you try that!
