10 Brilliant Yoga Storage Ideas To Organize Your Yoga Room
This post is all about yoga storage ideas for small spaces like a home yoga room or small yoga studio.
Whether you practice yoga at home or are designing a small yoga studio, it’s important to have your yoga equipment stored properly to maximize space and create a calming space you look forward to practicing in.
I have a little yoga corner in my studio apartment that is my own sanctuary for yoga and meditation. As my collection of yoga equipment grew to include yoga blocks, yoga straps, and even a yoga wheel I had to find some creative storage ideas that work for such a small space.
I am sharing those tips and even more that will work for any space and budget so you can create your own dream relaxation space!
How To Store Yoga Equipment At Home
1. Yoga storage basket for a yoga room at home
If you only have a small space to work with for your yoga corner then a basket is a great option! I use a wire basket but you can easily thrift plenty of cute baskets that will fit your unique style.
Baskets and bins work great because they keep your yoga mat and props tucked away but the storage unit doesn’t take up too much space.
*These also work great for foam rollers
2. Pegboard to hold yoga equipment
Use a pegboard for a perfectly customizable storage unit. You can add shelves or hooks to hold not just your yoga mat horizontally but smaller yoga accessories as well.
The pegs are great because as your needs change you can easily change your board!
3. Hide your yoga props away in a chest or bench
Sometimes the less visual clutter the better. Hide your yoga equipment away with a simple chest or bench.
It will keep your yoga equipment protected if you have kids or pets as well!

4. Simple shelves for storing yoga mats for a sleek look
Pick up a slender shelving unit to keep your yoga props up and out of the way. One thing I love about yoga is that you really don’t need a lot for this practice.
Because of that, a simple shelving unit is probably just enough for you and your family or roommate to store your yoga gear.
5. Hanging yoga storage wall-mounted racks
To save floor space, use your walls for a simple yoga mat rack. All you need is a few wall hooks since yoga mats aren’t too heavy.
Then add a shelf above for your yoga books, journal, blocks, or water bottle!
6. Yoga storage wall for easy access
If you have enough wall space, use multiple shelves to dedicate a whole wall for storage space.
This organizer works great if you are not only using the space for yoga but also meditation, workouts etc.

7. Yoga ball storage ideas
Yoga balls can have a mind of their own. To keep them from rolling all over your space, use a bungee cord or simple rope to keep them secure in a corner or shelf.
You can also use a couple of wall attachments to suspend them in the corner of your yoga room to maximize floor space.
8. Stack blocks on a shelf or hidden in a crate
Yoga blocks are easy to organize since they can simply stack on top of each other!
Designate an area of your yoga shelf or use a rectangular wooden crate to keep your yoga blocks locked in.
9. Yoga wheel storage
Similar to yoga balls, yoga wheels are a little more tricky to store since they are an odd shape. You can hang them on a hook on your pegboard or add a hook to the side of your storage shelf.
You can also place the wheel on the ground and use it as a stand to hold your yoga ball so it doesn’t roll away.

10. Hang yoga straps on a simple hook or roll them up and put them in storage baskets
Yoga straps are pretty easy to keep organized! Simply use a single hook or roll them up and store them in a small basket.
They can get tangled so make sure they are hung up or stored away.
Should I roll up my yoga mat?
Rolling up your yoga mat is a great way to keep it compact in your yoga room.
The only downside to rolling up your yoga mat is if you recently cleaned it, moisture can get trapped inside.
Make sure your yoga mat is completely dry before rolling it. Or you can hang them over a rack if you would rather not roll them!
Should I throw away my yoga mat?
Wondering what to do with an old yoga mat? Don’t throw it away! As you organize your yoga equipment and declutter your yoga accessories, use these ideas to repurpose your yoga mat before dumping it.
- Try to fix it if possible
- Use it under a rug so they won’t slip
- Use it as a baby playmat
- Create a kneeling pad for gardening
- Give it to your pets to rest on or put it under their bowls so they don’t slide around
*try to recycle old yoga mats and props if you have that as an option but unfortunately, there aren’t tons of options outside of repurposing them and trashing them.
