Keep it simple with a “Happy Halloween” greeting and a few spider webs.

If you wouldn’t consider yourself a talented artist there is nothing wrong with a simple Halloween sign!

2. Funny Halloween chalkboard inspiration

Tap into the spooky season with a silly Halloween greeting or rhyme. This is the perfect Halloween wall sign if you are not super artsy since it is more about the lettering.

8. Cute Halloween chalkboard artwork

These mini candy corns are too adorable! You can use regular chalk to make this sign or you can use these chalk markers.

9. Coffee shop Halloween chalkboard sign

If you have a coffee shop or other small business, this is the perfect Halloween sign to jokingly get your customers in the Halloween spirit and in the door to treat themselves!

What do you need for DIY Halloween chalkboards?

I love chalkboards as fall home decor because they are an easy DIY Halloween project. All you need is chalk, a thrifted picture frame and some chalkboard paint.

If you already have a chalkboard laying around you can always repurpose that as well!

Best of all, once you make your own chalkboard you can easily repurpose it to use for upcoming holiday decor!

Here are some recommendations for materials to use:

  1. Classic chalk
  2. Chalk markers (if you don’t like that chalky feel on your hands)
  3. Thrifted picture frame (you can always paint them!)
  4. Chalkboard paint to paint on your picture frame
  5. Reusable Halloween stencils or you can make your own! All you need is some card stock, scissors and a bit of creativity! Or you can use your home printer to create stencils.

Make sure to clean off your blackboard and let it dry before adding your designs. That way all of your lettering and halloween designs look nice and crisp!

Where to put your Halloween chalkboards?

Before purchasing your materials, try to brainstorm where you envision your Halloween decor being displayed. Since it is chalk it needs to be in a covered area safe from rain but they can be really cute when used as outdoor Halloween decor!

Here are some other places you can decorate:

To spruce up your decor a bit more you can surround your sign with pumpkins, add on burlap bows or even add twinkle lights.

I hope this list of Halloween chalkboard ideas inspired you to make your own Halloween decor this year and even repurpose it for the upcoming holiday season. Happy Halloween!
