The Best Store Bought Non-Alcoholic Summer Drinks

1. Kombucha

Kombucha has gotten a surge in popularity in recent years because of its health benefits! This fermented tea helps your gut bacteria. It is fizzy like a soda and has a pretty powerful taste.

To be honest, it can take some time to adjust to the taste but is super refreshing. It does contain trace amounts of alcohol but is not considered an alcoholic drink.

This is my absolute favorite Kombucha brand and flavor. If you ever have an upset stomach this flavor is also a great one to settle your stomach so you can get back to your summer fun.

Some people even say that kombucha has helped them to curb their beer cravings if you are looking for a lighter option in the summer heat and to get something a bit healthier in your system.

2. Olipop, Poppi, Culture Pop and other non-alcoholic drinks that come in cans

Olipop is one of the coolest drinks to hit the market lately! It mimics soda but instead, it has prebiotics, plant fiber, and botanical extracts. Again, it definitely doesn’t taste like a “normal” soda but I was shocked at how similar and yummy the vintage cola flavor was.

Here are some highlights of Olipop:

  • 9 grams of dietary fiber
  • 2-5 grams of sugar
  • Non GMO
  • Vegan, Paleo & Gluten free
  • Less than 50 calories per can

There are so many prebiotic “sodas” that are coming out, I can barely keep up! These are perfect because you can pack them in your cooler just like you would any other summer drink.

3. Sparkling Water

Some say sparkling water tastes like the flavor is in another room and they’re not wrong.

This beverage is the least flavorful on the list but it is incredibly refreshing on a hot day at the beach! If you want a drink that doesn’t overpower the flavor of what you’re eating, is sugar-free, and is affordable, sparkling water can be your go to!

La Croix is probably the most popular brand but there are tons of brands and flavor combos to choose from.

If you want to create your own flavor, all you need is soda water, possibly some simple syrup and fresh fruit. This is a super easy healthy drink option that you can pack on your summer picnic!

4. Zevia as a soda alternative

If you are a soda lover like me but don’t like all of the sugar in soda, consider trying Zevia. It’s not really a “healthy” drink but it is a better option compared to a traditional soda.

Zevia sodas definitely do not taste exactly like the original sodas they mimic but they are still really good! The best part is that there are caffeinated and noncaffeinated options so you can enjoy them at any time of the day!

Here are some highlights about Zevia:

  • Zero calorie
  • Zero sugar
  • Non GMO
  • Vegan & gluten free
  • 18 different flavors

Here are some other really great alternatives to soda if you are a soda lover and want some other healthy swaps!

5. Fresh Pressed Juice

orange juice, pineapple mango and green juice that are perfect for a hot summer day drink

Summer days are made for popsicles, fun new foods on your travels, and low-maintenance dinners.

It’s easy to lose sight of your nutritional goals over the summer months so slipping in a few fresh-pressed juices is a great way to make up for that!

Fresh pressed juices can easily be made at home, you dont even need a juicer! But you can also pick up bottled juices at local juice shops and even grocery stores. Just be sure to check on the bottle that it is a fresh pressed juice and not juice from concentrate.

Here are a few popular fresh pressed juice recipes that are perfect for a hot summer day:

  • Orange juice + lemon juice
  • Coconut water + lime
  • Watermelon juice + fresh mint
  • Pineapple juice + orange juice + carrot juice

Throw a few ice cubes in your fresh juice or let it sit on the fridge so it cools you off when you’re ready for it!

6. San Pellegrino

Another fun fizzy drink had to be added to the list! San Pelligrino is like a mixture of fizzy water with the punch of a sweet juice.

These are SO so yummy and refreshing to stash in your cooler and bring to the beach!  It really is the most refreshing summer drink to have poolside or beachside.

7. Homemade Summer Mocktails

Fancy homemade mocktails are not my specialty so I’ll leave it up to other creators on Pinterest!

Maybe you have a favorite drink that you can easily transition to be non alcoholic or there is a ton of inspiration over on Pinterest where creators are using different juices, edible flowers and even sparkles to dress up summer beverages!

As you plan your summer backyard barbecue or baby shower it is easy to only focus on the food. Take some extra time to create summer mocktails to really tie together the event and add an unforgettable element to your celebration!

If you are looking for a non alcoholic drink that is ready to grab and go, consider trying Ghia! I have yet to try it but I have heard only good things about it!

8. Water

This one’s a bonus drink but it had to be on the list!

It may be boring but it’s cheap and essential! When you’re out enjoying the nice weather and the fun drinks on this list, don’t forget to drink lots and lots of plain water to stay hydrated!

Here are a few tips to make plain water taste better:

  • Add crushed fruit for a bit of flavor (Etc. Raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, lemon peel etc.)
  • Add fresh lime juice (or lemon!)
  • Use a water filter
  • Add a water enhancer/water flavoring packet that is natural
  • Add lots of ice cubes so it is super cold!

What are the best summer drinks for kids?

The drinks on this list are great for everyone! Introducing kids to drinks other than soda and juice from concentrate is a great way to help them be open to different flavors and textures. The bright colors, fizzy texture and fruity smells of the summer drinks on this list are exciting for everyone!

Many families try to minimize sugar intake for their children so diluting some of the drinks on this list with water is a great way for kids to still enjoy a fun summer drink but just with less sugar.

What are some other fun tropical drinks kids for kids to enjoy? Here are a few summer drinks for kids if you have a bit of extra time:

  • Virgin piña colada
  • Strawberry lemonade (any unique homemade lemonade!)

Always be sure to check with the kids parents if you are unsure of allergies etc.
