The Best Affordable Online Workout Classes You Need To Try!

I am all for an outdoor workout and I honestly prefer it that way. It is so good for us to not only get our daily movement in but also sunshine and fresh air!

Sometimes it is nice to roll out your mat and just do a workout in the comfort of your own home though!

I put together a list of some of my favorite workout classes that I hope you will love too!  This list includes a mix of yoga, pilates, and more! Some of these classes have a membership fee but most are free. I hope this list is helpful if you have been trying to figure out which workout classes are worth your time and money

Why choose an online workout?

Again, I am all for getting your movement in outdoors but sometimes it is rainy or you just feel like staying home.

Online workouts are great because they are normally WAY cheaper than studio classes. You only have to have a phone or laptop to watch the classes rather than investing in all sorts of gear like you would for an outdoor sport.

The best part about online classes is that it is just you! I go back and forth on this one. Sometimes I love having people to work out with, and other times it’s nice just being able to do my own thing.

Lastly, there is less pollution indoors. That was kind of a joke but also kind of not. Sadly, in some places, outdoor pollution is starting to dictate when and how we can enjoy outdoor spaces.

So all in all, indoor workout classes have plenty of benefits! As long as you’re getting some kind of movement in and having fun, you’re winning in my book!

Items needed for indoor workout classes

  • A mat or towel. You don’t need a fancy yoga mat, you can just use a towel or soft surface.
  • A reusable waterbottle
  • Weights for some classes. If you don’t have weights you can use your water bottle, cans or books (or thrift some weights!).
  • Some kind of device: tablet, phone, computer etc.

My favorite online workout classes

1. Max and Tianna Yoga Sculpt

This is a father daughter duo based in Hawaii and they offer free yoga sculpt classes on Youtube! They both have the most positive energy and are pretty funny too! Yoga sculpt is a blend of Yoga, strength training, and cardio.

If it is hard to imagine, I don’t blame you. It is a pretty unique practice. Sculpt is intense so I recommend searching for their beginner classes if you are new to this type of workout and then working your way up to more challenging classes. They have classes focusing on core, extra cardio, HIIT, etc.!

Between the good music and their encouraging messages (and the fact that it is free) it makes it the perfect indoor workout class.

They also offer in person classes at their studio. You can find more info here

2. Yoga Girl

Rachel Brathen, also known as Yoga Girl, has an online membership platform for yoga, astrology and meditation. Her platform has so much variety and has an array of some amazing and talented teachers. It is alo pretty affordable for a paid platform. Currently it is around $13 per month!

You can look throught the library and choose from the length of the class, the level and what style of yoga you want to practice.

This was the first online workout membership I tried and I loved it! I only moved on to the next platform because I felt like I did all the classes I wanted to try.

3. Sky Ting

Sky Ting classes always make me daydream about living in NYC and popping into the studio for a class! Their studio is filled with plants and light and just looks SO cozy. They have a mix of pilates, meditation and various yoga classes.

They put a ton of classes up during the Covid shutdown so there are tons of classes from lots of teachers, teaching class from all over the country! It is quite the variety and keeps things interesting. You can also choose the length of the class, level and teacher.

These are the online classes I am currently taking and I love them! The membership fee is a sliding scale too which is great!

4. Move with Nicole

I don’t even remember how I found her classes but I am so glad I did! Move with Nicole has mostly pilates classes and they are free on Youtube!

Her peppy yet calm teaching style really carries you through the class and makes you feel confident you can make it till the end of class. She clearly labels which classes are more challenging so you never go in without knowing what you are getting yourself into.

I love that even her shorter classes still feel like an effective workout. I also love that she focuses on alignment so I never feel like I’m going to accidentally hurt myself in her classes.

Although I am new to pilates, I would highly reccomend checking out her classes on youtube!

5. POPSUGAR Fitness

Popsugar has the perfect variety of every type of workout you are looking for! I have taken dance classes, HIIT, yoga, Cardio and more! They even have classes that are just 10 min. long if you are short on time. There are tons of different instructors and best of all it is free.

If you are still not convinced indoor workout classes are for you, I totally get it. I put together some tips on hiking if you want an outdoor movement practice! You can check out my tips here.

I hope this list convinced you to try out a new indoor workout! Of course, getting outside is ideal but sometimes it is good to have a good list of indoor workouts for rainy days.
