Top 5 Zero Waste Online Stores So You Can Make Eco Friendly Choices From The Comfort Of Your Home!

Zero waste online stores have been SO incredibly helpful in my sustainable living journey. When I first started learning about the zero waste movement I didn’t have access to any zero waste shops in person. Well, I guess there was LUSH but that was only really for bath products!

Now I am really blessed to have multiple zero waste shops near me, but not many people can say the same for their community. That is why zero waste online stores are so amazing!

Of course, there are ways you can go zero waste without buying anything. Making choices like using cloth towels instead of paper towels is something you can do without stepping foot inside a zero waste store.

There is something really convenient though about having a shop fully dedicated and curated to the zero waste lifestyle. It is much more convenient to have all of your sustainable goods in one place rather than having to go to multiple shops in order to find sustainable swaps.

Even just browsing around these zero waste online stores may give you ideas to try products you have never heard of or would never consider a zero waste swap for (i.e. reusable cotton swabs-yes they exist!).

Another great benefit to zero waste shopping online is that you can find which stores have the best deals on zero waste products. I will admit, zero waste products can get really pricey!

Lastly, in terms of accessibility (not just geographically and financially), I hope that this list helps more people have the opportunity to getting zero waste products delivered directly to them.

Where Can I Buy Zero Waste Products Online?

1. Package Free Shop

zero waste products bought from package free shop

If you are in the zero waste lifestyle world then you most likely have heard of Package Free Shop. But I had to include it on the list for those that haven’t!

Package Free Shop was really one of the first zero waste stores I found and I was excited to hear that they had an online store (they also have a store in NYC).

Things I love about Package Free Shop:

  • Always adding new low waste products
  • Women founded
  • Everything is shipped in 100% post consumer cardboard. All shipping materials (including the tape!) are recyclable and compostable

2. Protea Zero Waste

zero waste store called Protea zero waste

Protea was the first ever refill shop I had ever been to! They have a really wide selection of products to refill and zero waste products to purchase. The best part is that they also have an online store so no matter where you live you can get their items shipped to you

One of my favorite parts about this store in particular is that they do a ton of work to not only provide amazing products but also educate the community (in person and on social media-give them a follow!).

Some of my favorite events they have put on have been a microplastic art night, plant/clothes/book swaps and beach clean ups!

I love that they don’t just sell products but also do a lot to make sure customers know how helpful making sustainable swaps in their daily life can be!

Things I love about Protea Zero Waste Shop:

  • Women owned and operated
  • They offer lots of educational events and opportunities in person and on social media
  • They carry lots of locally made brands and products
  • Offer a range of products from pet care, toiletries, cleaning products, etc.

3. R Planet

R Planet is a newer zero waste shop run by two college students! They are based out of Hawaii and started by doing pop up shops at farmer’s markets where they would offer their zero waste products and refills.

Now they have an amazing online shop where you can purchase their items wherever you are located. If you live on Oahu they offer package free local delivery!

I love that they also make some of their products in house too! I personally love their lip balm and dish soap bar!

Things I love about R Planet:

  • Women owned
  • Small business
  • Products are ethically sourced (cruelty free, often handmade etc.)
  • They offer package free delivery to local customers
  • Eco friendly packaging options (recyclable, reusable or compostable)
  • Show the behind the senses of running a small sustainable business on social media

4. Amazon

eco friendly quote

Yes, I know some people may get mad for even having a big box store on this list but hear me out.

One word, accessibility.

Unfortunately, zero waste products can be very expensive. Since Amazon is such a large company they are able to sometimes make their products a bit cheaper yet still offer products that are made sustainably

Personally, I think it is better if more people do zero waste imperfectly rather than everyone doing it perfectly (adapted quote by Anne-Marie Bonneau).

Aside from the financial barriers there are also geographical barriers. Many people shop on Amazon (myself included!) especially if you live in a more rural or isolated area that smaller buisnesses may not ship to.

There is so much to consider when it comes to living a sustainable lifestyle but I do think Amazon offers a convenient way for more people to participate in the low waste lifestyle. And that is why I recommend some amazon products on this site!

5. Earth Hero

I like to refer to Earth Hero as the green Amazon. So if you are not a fan of shopping at Amazon be sure to check out Earth Hero!

They have a HUGE selection of zero waste products. Seriously, like anything you can think of, they have the eco friendly version of it.

I have had only great experiences shopping here, specifically buying sustainable gifts for family and friends for the holidays. I basically was able to knock out all of my holiday shopping in one place because I knew it was all sustainably made.

Things I love about Earth Hero:

  • B Corp certified company
  • 1% for the planet member
  • Climate neutral certified
  • Zero waste office space. They make great strides to ensure that their offices minimize the amount of waste that they create.
  • Offset all of their shipping emissions
