Easter basket ideas

  • Thrifted basket: There are SO many cute wicker baskets that you can discover, sanitize, and use as an Easter basket.
  • Canvas tote bag: Roll the sides down so it is in the shape of a basket. These are affordable and you can decorate them with fabric paint!
  • Canvas storage basket: These can also be thrifted! I love that you can use these as storage in your baby’s closet when Easter is over.
  • Wire basket: These give a rustic feel to your basket and if you add straw or hay to the basket it will pop out on the sides! (Just be mindful to not let the baby eat the straw/grass)
  • Quilted baskets: Upcycle an old quilt to make a vintage-looking basket! You may even find someone in your community who makes these at a craft fair.
  • Upcycle a cardboard box and wrap it in festive Easter wrapping paper. No one will notice and if you spend less money on the container you can spend more on the gifts! That’s how that works right? (;

  • Felt flowers as a nod to spring
  • Homemade Easter banner made out of paper or felt across the handle of the basket. It could say Happy Easter or their name.
  • Embroider their name on the tote or basket
  • Wooden tag with their name (bunny-shaped or easter egg shape)

Stuffed animals are a classic and for good reason! Your little one will love to cuddle up with a soft stuffie and it may stay with them for years to come.

Try to stay on theme by picking up a bunny, lamb, Easter chick, or something silly like a carrot.

If you don’t know how to sew you can pick up one of these adorable Easter-themed animals!:

2. Wooden Easter eggs

Toss in a couple of wooden egg shakers that double as maracas. Babies love to create their own little songs and the rounded egg is baby-friendly.

I love these whimsical painted eggs but if you want something a bit brighter you can opt for rainbow eggs!

Some of the items on this list will be more for the baby to enjoy while others are a bit more practical but still baby-related!

3. Easter teething toys

Did some ‘bunny’ say ouch?! There’s no worse feeling than watching your baby cry from teething and not being able to help them. These won’t cure teething but they should bring some relief!

These little orange carrot teethers are so cute and practical! I love that they are made of silicone so you can pop them in the fridge for a couple minutes to cool them down.

Your baby will look like an adorable bunny as they chomp down on their carrot teether and hopefully find some relief.

4. Easter card for babies

This gift is less for the baby and more for their future selves when they open their memory box filled with holiday memories and find a handwritten note from their loved one.

You can never go wrong with a handmade card but these colorful Easter egg ones work too! I love that they are made from 100% recycled paper.

5. Easter books for babies

Refresh their library for spring by including a couple of Easter books. The more colors and pop ups the better!

Best Easter books for babies

  • Peter Rabbit (it’s a classic so I had to include it! They’ll probably enjoy it more later but it’s a good gift for sentimental reasons)
  • Hippity, Hoppity, Little Bunny (Finger puppet board book for extra entertainment)
  • Biscuit’s Pet & Play Easter (This is a touch-and-feel book from a classic kids series! They’ll probably see similar ones from this set when they eventually head to school.)
  • I Love You, Funny Bunny (a sweet and special book to show your love!)

6. Fruit puree pouches as a sweet Easter treat

This one will depend on the age of your baby but since they can’t have candy, a fruit puree is the next best thing!

These organic fruit purees are even Peter rabbit-themed!

These also make a great Easter brunch snack for the toddlers and kids who attend. Pop these in the fridge or freezer so when they are tired from their Easter egg hunt they will have something cool to enjoy.

7. Pastel Organic bibs

You can never have too many bibs! I love to roll these pastel bibs up to line the inner edge of the Easter basket.

They add a pop of color and will get a ton of use. Protect your baby’s cute Easter brunch outfit and then keep using them all throughout the year!

It’s fun to get seasonal and holiday items but even better when you can stretch out their use.

8. Bunny-shaped natural & refillable baby lotion

Isn’t this bunny-shaped lotion bottle so adorable?! I love that they sell refillable packs so you can keep the cute bottle when you run out and just refill it.

Aside from it looking cute, the ingredients are vegan and mostly organic!

If you love a light coconut and vanilla scent then this lotion will make the perfect addition to your baby’s Easter basket!

9. Flower-shaped sunglasses with a strap

As spring brings in some warmth and flowers begin to bloom it can be so nice to go on morning strolls and enjoy the fresh air.

Keep your little one’s eyes safe with these super cute flower sunglasses! I love that they have a strap on the back so that they don’t slip off their head as they learn to crawl and walk.

They work great for newborns and because there is a strap on the back they will last throughout their toddler years.

Maybe your baby was already gifted some frilly Easter outfits but you can never go wrong with the basics.

I love these soft and organic onesies by Honest. They’re simple but come in plenty of Easter colors to stay on theme!

Even though the weather is heating up it is still nice to have a few long-sleeve onesies for bedtime! These onesies have a side snap which looks stylish but more importantly speeds up diaper changes.

11. Easter chick bath toy

Ok back to the fun stuff that baby will truly enjoy! This adorable little baby chick-hatching egg is the perfect addition to bath time.

The baby chick hides in the egg and then pops up. And then when you press its head it will gently squirt water from its beak.

It’s the perfect little peekaboo game that your baby will get a kick out of!

12. Carrot gardening sorting game

Let your baby work on their fine motor skills as they harvest mini carrots from a sturdy wooden box. It sounds boring but babies love to work on these sorts of things and it builds their hand-eye coordination skills as well.

I love that this toy isn’t too big so it will fit in most Easter baskets. Skip the plastic baby Easter toys and opt for a sturdy one that they can use in their play kitchen when they outgrow the sorting portion of this game.

DIY Easter crafts for baby gifts

If you have a bit of extra time, consider making some gifts that you can add to your baby’s Easter basket as well!

  • Hand-painted photo frame with a family Easter photo in it
  • Personalized onesie with their name embroidered
  • Stuffed fabric carrots
  • Felt Easter finger puppets
  • Bunny ears headband and a bunny tail
  • Homemade Easter basket
