Easy coconut berry yogurt dip
This dip is totally optional, but I think if you are bringing this fruit salad to a party, it is the perfect thing to elevate this dish a bit!
I thought of it right after whipping up this fruit salad, and I love that it’s only a few ingredients. All you need is:
- ½ cup coconut yogurt
- 2–3 mashed raspberries or strawberries
- Small drizzle of agave
Mix these ingredients together until smooth and serve on the side. If you have some juice left over from your pomegranate, you can pour some of that into the dip for an even brighter reddish-pink color!

Alternative vegan fruit salad dressing ideas
I was really happy with the coconut yogurt dressing I made above, but if you have other dietary concerns or don’t have those ingredients, here are a few other simple fruit salad dressing recipes you can try:
- Maple Citrus: Maple syrup + lemon juice + orange juice + vanilla.
- Agave Lime Mint: Agave + lime juice + chopped mint.
- Coconut Vanilla: Coconut milk + maple syrup + vanilla.
- Berry dressing: Mashed thawed berries + maple + lemon.
- Ginger Orange: Orange juice + agave + a pinch of ginger.
- Poppy Seed Citrus: Vegan yogurt + orange juice + agave + poppy seeds.
Adding a fruit salad dressing is totally optional. You can add it right before serving or place it in a small container next to the fruit salad for guests to add their preferred amount.
Tips for the Best Fruit Salad

- Dry your fruit well to prevent extra liquid from collecting at the bottom.
- Add your raspberries last. They’re delicate and can break apart easily or get mushy.
- Toss your fruit salad gently so everything stays pretty for serving.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less agave.
- Chill before serving if you want an even more refreshing salad.

Make-Ahead Instructions
I love fruit salads because, compared to more vegetable-based salads, they can be made 2-3 days ahead and will still be fresh to serve. Here are a few tips if you want to make your salad ahead of time:
- Slice strawberries, grapes, and apples the night before and store them separately from the other ingredients.
- Toss apples with lemon juice to prevent browning. You can also drizzle the whole salad with lemon juice (which is what I do!) to keep everything fresh. If you don’t have fresh lemon, you can use a bottle of lemon juice or any other citrus.
- Add the raspberries and pomegranate right before serving. These are the most delicate fruits and can get soggy quickly.
Fruit salad variations

One of the best things about making fruit salads is that they are easily customizable. I originally made this recipe with Valentine’s Day in mind, which is why I went with the red/pink theme for the fruits, but you can mix in whatever fruits you prefer! Here are a few fruit salad add-ins that I think could work well with the recipe base above:
- Extra fruit: Add kiwi, mango, grapes, or sliced peaches for more color and texture.
- Crunch: Sprinkle on chopped almonds, pistachios, pecans, or granola.
- Herbs: Fresh mint or basil gives the salad a bright, fragrant twist.
- Citrus pop: Add orange or lemon zest for extra freshness.
- Sweet boost: A drizzle of maple syrup or agave if your berries aren’t super sweet.
- Creamy finish: A spoonful of vegan yogurt or coconut cream on top.

Fruit salad storage tips
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 1–2 days. If the ingredients are stored separately, you could store them for closer to 2-3 days. The heavier fruits will be fine for a couple of days, but the raspberries will start to soften quickly, so they’re best enjoyed fresh!
Fruit salad must be stored in the fridge and cannot be frozen. Technically, you could freeze it, but the texture may end up being a bit wonky when you thaw it.
