I seriously LOVE journaling so I understand how important it is to learn about all the specifics surrounding your journal before buying it. I like when my journals lay flat, are sturdy, have enough pages for all of my thoughts, are cute but not too much pattern etc. As you can see I have high standards for my journals!
Another important criteria for journals and notebooks are that they are made sustainably. I included eco friendly notebooks on this list that are made using recycled paper, recycled water bottles or even no paper!

This is the perfect notebook for journaling! It lies flat and has a sturdy covering. It has plenty of pages in it that are lined and on the thicker side.
The best part is that it is made out of recycled water bottles and recycled paper!
I picked mine up in store from Target but you can also find it online!
2. Paperage
If you are looking for a classic and minimalistic kind of journal this one may be perfect for you!
Paperage notebooks come in a variety of solid earthy colors. The paper is thick which won’t let your pens bleed through. This notebook comes in line and dotted options depending on what you are using it for.

3. Ecotiva Dotted Notebook for Bullet Journaling
Do you bullet journal?! I used to be obsessed with my bullet journal. It is so fun to get creative and make all of your own templates for the week, month or year!

Greenroom notebooks are made with paper that is 60-70% recycled fiber and is printed with nontoxic soy-based ink.
Personally, I like to use the spiral notebooks for work but they also work great for journaling!

5. Rocketbook Smart Reusable Notebook
Did you know you could have a notebook without paper? It definitely saves trees from being cut down! The Rocketbook notebook is basically a dry erase board but disguised as a notebook.
It comes with a specialized pen and surface to write on that allows the ink to bond to the paper and then wipe off easily. There is also an app that goes with the notebook that allows you to easily scan your notes to add them to Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud and more!
By only reusing this set you will drastically reduce the amount of paper you use! I will say this setup seems great for quick notes more so than note taking for work or school. Either way, I love this unique notebook!
