10 Adorable DIY Easter Door Decoration Ideas Anyone Can Make

This post is all about cute Easter door decoration ideas to welcome the holiday.

Welcome in the easter bunny or your Easter brunch guests with the cutest homemade Easter door decor!

If you’re looking for Easter crafts that aren’t super expensive but actually turn out looking good you will find plenty of inspiration on this list.

Proudly display these wooden door signs, Easter door mats, door hangers, and of course Easter wreaths to enjoy this sweet spring holiday.

Again, this list is all about using what you already have or can find outside to make unique and simple Easter home decor! Best of all, I tried to focus on durability so you can use these Easter home decor pieces year after year!

I love all of the Easter decor at the store but most of it is made of plastic or is super expensive. Because of that, I wanted to create a guide to give you other options to still celebrate the holiday in style but on your budget!

Let’s hop to it and get your home decorated for the Easter season!

*This list is mostly for decorating your front door for Easter but some of these ideas could easily be used instead for Easter classroom door decor too!

Best DIY Easter Door Decoration Ideas

1. Easter egg garland or a simple spring-colored banner

Head to the thrift store and pick up some plastic Easter eggs in bright colors!

You can cut a small hole in the sides and string them together to create an adorable garland! Hang it over your door or if you make a smaller one you can attach it directly to your door with command hooks.

Fishing wire is probably the best string for this but ribbon would be even cuter! If you don’t want to use plastic eggs, you could also make them out of paper mache. Just make sure to put Modge Podge on them so there is a sealant.

If you don’t want to use eggs you can create a simple fabric banner! Make sure to use soft spring colors from scraps of fabric.

Leave it as is or add bows in between each of the triangles to make it extra cutesy. I think zig-zagging the banner from your front door to your front steps across your ceiling would be fun and festive as well!

2. Easter letterboard with pastel letters

Whip out your letter board to add a cute Easter message to it! Anything about bunnies, spring, candy, or peeps will do. The cheesier the message the better.

Suspend your sign with a thick ribbon and add bows to the top to give it an extra adorable and springy touch. I love this pink gingham ribbon because it’s nice and thick and should hold any letterboard!

Also, these pastel letters are perfect for the holiday as well. You don’t have to buy new ones though, you can always use the ones you have or paint them pastel colors to fit the Easter theme!

Here are some cute phrases to add to your Easter letterboard (or Easter chalkboard!)

  • Welcome every bunny!
  • Knock If You Love Cadbury Eggs!
  • Welcome Peeps!
  • Egg Hunt Headquarters
  • Hop On In!
  • Hoppy Easter!
  • Chillin’ with my Peeps
  • Egg-cited for Easter!
  • Somebunny loves you!

3. Natural bunny wreath musing a grapevine wreath

I know I promised ideas other than wreaths but a door decorating post has to have a wreath idea on it!

Instead of a classic wreath, use grapevine to create a unique and Easter themed shape. I think a wreath made to look like a bunny or an Easter egg would be the easiest. Then add some dried flowers, pom poms, mini signs, bows, or Easter themed decor made from clay

If you are hosting an Easter party it could be fun to add fresh flowers on the day of the party!

4. Easter door hangers using scrap fabric

For a door that wows your guests, you can decorate every inch of it-including the door knob!

Use fabric to create a stuffed carrot, bunny, or Easter egg. Add a bow on top so it can hang beautify from your door knob. You can even add a string of wooden or clay beads to the side to spruce it up a bit. This is a simple touch but it’s easy and cute!

5. DIY Easter doormat

Thrift or upcycle a doormat you already have so that it fits the Easter theme! Outdoor acrylic paint can work perfectly to create adorable designs like:

  • A pair of bunny ears
  • A pattern of jelly beans
  • Messages like the ones in the section above about letterboard ideas
  • Simple multicolored pastel flowers
  • Large carrots
  • Colorful eggs
  • A simple happy easter message

6. Painted canvas banner

Pick up a simple canvas banner and some acrylic paint to write a welcoming Easter message on your sign. I love this idea because you can paint the back of the sign for another holiday and no one will ever know (;

If you wouldn’t consider yourself a talented artist, you can always use stencils and stamps to make your sign look better.

A simple idea could be making a pattern of flowers or eggs and then writing a Happy Easter message on top! If you combine this simple sign with other decor from the list, your door will look perfectly festive with minimal effort!

You can use canvas scraps from home or this is a premade blank banner you can decorate at home!

7. Large egg painted on kraft paper

If you have kids they will LOVE helping out this this Easter kraft. Pick up a roll of Kraft paper and cut it into an Egg shape.

Pick up some pastel paint and create a massive egg to put on your front door! Will it look tacky? Possibly. But sometimes for seasonal decor, it’s ok to have a bright and colorful door to welcome in the holiday!

8. Rustic wooden Easter sign from upcycled wood

Decorating your front door for Easter can include the area around your door too! Broaden your horizons by including a wooden sign to welcome guests.

You can easily use the extra wood you have lying around to create a simple Easter-themed sign!

Painting the sign will probably be the easiest idea but you could also carve into the sign as well. Leave it as is and prop it near your door or place it in a potted plant to really spruce up the space!

9. DIY Easter wreath using foraged materials rather than traditional Easter wreaths

I challenge you to skip the faux florals when making your very own Easter wreath this year!

Unfortunately, some of the flowers may blow off of your wreath and your animal neighbors could eat them, like cute bunnies.

Instead, use natural items to decorate your Easter wreath like:

  • Dried flowers
  • Green moss
  • Pretty feathers
  • Grapevine wreath or willow branches
  • Eggshells
  • Pressed flowers
  • Dyed egg shells
  • Spring blooms

If you do choose to use noncompostable items (like faux flowers) make sure they are securely fastened and save them for other DIY decor projects

10. Easter garland made of clay

I’m hiding this idea at the end because it’s for sure the most time-consuming idea on this list but it isn’t super difficult.

Recently I have been experimenting with more and more clay crafts and I think they could make super sweet DIY Easter decorations! *yes the photo above is Easter cookies and not clay but it’s more for inspiration!

Use some air-dried clay to create flat Easter-themed shapes. Make sure to poke a hole in the top so you can string them together. Don’t forget to seal them with Modge Podge so they can withstand the outdoor weather.

You may want to use a few command hooks to tie the end bows on. For an extra pop of color, you can add colorful pom poms in between the clay characters you create.

Head to the local craft stores in your area to see what you can find from them! They may have extra creative ideas as well (:
